SULLIVAN – The Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department is busy power-washing the pool, mowing the grass and lining the ball fields just in time for summer. Baseball and softball games have already started, and the swimming pool is now fully compliant with federal guidelines regarding entrapment-free drains and intakes, Parks and Recreation Department Director Dave Cochran said. The federally mandated improvement came at a price of more than $14,000, he said. The entrapment-free drains and intakes are a safeguard against drowning.
Parks and Recreation Department employees were busy last week power-washing the pool deck in preparation of its opening day during Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 29. Cochran encouraged anyone wanting to reserve the pool for a birthday party, family reunion or.....

Married to his late wife Tracy (Scott) in 1965, they took over the business in 1970 and ran it together until her death in March 2009.
Gawer was a man, that to many, was larger than life. It was never more apparent than seeing him with any of his and Tracy’s children; daughters Julie (Darrah), Jeniffer (Rubenstein) or son, Scott Gawer. His face was filled with pride when speaking about any of the three.
To say that Gawer had a contagious and gregarious personality would be.......
