3-year-old missing after boat capsizes

ST. CLAIR - A three-year-old girl is missing after a boat capsized on the Bourbeuse River Sunday evening near the Round River access east of St. Clair. Fire crews and a helicopter were called in after a cell phone call indicated that a boat flipped on the river and a toddler was missing. Several rescue crews - including Sullivan and St. Clair - were dispatched to the scene. Sullivan man charged with sodomy and child molestation

SULLIVAN – A Sullivan man has been charged with multiple counts of statutory sodomy and child molestation for sexually abusing a female relative. David N. Paul, 60, who resides in the 3000 block of Sleepy Hollow Road, was charged on May 13, with eight counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and three counts of first-degree child molestation, Washington County Circuit Court records show. He is being held in the Washington County Jail on $200,000 cash only bond. If he does make bond, he is not to have contact with any children under the age of 17.

The charges stem from incidents that allegedly happened between June 2005 and June 2007 when Paul was visiting the child’s house in Washington County, a probable cause statement filed with the case says. Court documents outline in graphic detail the offenses.....

Parade kicks off Firemen's Picnic

SULLIVAN - The clouds parted and the sun began to shine Thursday afternoon as the annual Firemen's Picnic parade rolled through the streets of Sullivan. A plethora of emergency vehicles - including the Sullivan Fire Protection District, Missouri Baptist EMS and Bourbon Fire - flashed lights and sounded sirens across the route as kids (and a few adults) scrambled for candy tossed by the parade vehicles. The annual event serves as the unofficial summer kick-off with rides and the always-famous fish sandwiches served at the city park. The parade was led by Chief White of the Sullivan Fire Protection District. The Firemen's Picnic runs through Saturday night and is free and open to the public to stroll and enjoy.
