UNION – Two teenagers – one from Sullivan – who are accused of burglarizing a home in Robertsville were taken into custody Monday by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department after a three-and-half mile foot chase. Oscar Grisham, 19, of Sullivan and Justin Mitchalk, 18, of Robertsville have been charged with three felonies for second-degree burglary, stealing a firearm and resisting arrest, Franklin County court records show. Bond for both of the teenagers has been set at $25,000. It also was determined there were warrants out of Illinois for burglary on Mitchalk, and he was charged with being a fugitive from out of state, as well as forgery, according to court records.
The incident began about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 1, when deputies responded to a burglary at a residence located on Hendricks Road in Robertsville. Witnesses reported seeing two individuals in the area prior to the theft, and deputies responded to a house where they were believed to be living. As deputies approached the house, two people fled on foot.
Deputies tracked the suspects for roughly three miles through the woods and found them hiding. The teenagers then fled again on foot, but were taken into custody after about a half-mile foot chase, the news release from the sheriff’s department said. Weapons and other items stolen from the residence deputies were originally called to were found in the wooded area and the house where the teenagers were reported to be living.
