SULLIVAN - Late Tuesday morning Sullivan Police Department officers say they put an end to a meth operation they say was inside a home at 307 Elmont Road, which is just across from Gray Street and between Park and Fisher streets. According to police officers at the scene, one man was arrested at the home and a juvenile taken away from the scene and placed with relatives. The lab, which police say was fully operable, was dismantled at the scene by Narcotics Task Force officers. A strong chemical odor could be detected as far back as the street. Numerous Sullivan Police Department vehicles and officers were at the scene throughout late morning as clean-up and investigations continued. A special mobile narcotics lab vehicle was utilized to process the scene and any chemicals associated with the law enforcement action. According to sources, the home is a rental unit and locally owned. The premises was littered with toys, tires and other debris and it appeared that many of the windows had been boarded or otherwise obscured. Surveillance cameras had been mounted on at least two of the home's windows and what appeared to be a motion detector placed on the rear of the premises. The name of the person arrested, as well as the charges, has not yet been released.
