CIAO ALDO'S, HELLO SCHMIDTVILLE!
SULLIVAN - If you don't know what comes after Aldo's, you don't know Schmidt. Schmidtville, actually. Not long after Aldo said ciao, goodbye, see ya! on his way out the business door, an intrepid restaurant venturer hopes to open Schmidtville - a new eatery based on a well-established name. Schmidtville will occupy the former Aldo's Italian restaurant on Wal-Mart Drive.
According to papers filed with the City of Sullivan, Schmidtville is Marie Ann Leroy, L.L.C. and Cliff Dudley. The name of the new restaurant - if all the hoops and hurdles are jumped - is obvious to those who know Dudley; he's married to Vivian Schmidt. Those hoops and hurdles include a business license from the City of Sullivan and a state liquor license. The City Council will get a liquor license request during Tuesday's meeting. A state liquor license application must include a letter from the city in which it will be used. That, for the most part, is usually just a formality.

END OF THE REEL FOR MOVIE PALACE
SULLIVAN - It's been around long enough to see the dawn and sunset of VCR's and the advent of CD's and the digital age. So why goodbye? That may be speculation, but the truth is that Movie Palace will soon be gone from Central Plaza on North Clark Street. Fricks, the owner of the building, may utilize the space for their own office purposes.
Movie Palace has owned several movie rental businesses in Missouri, but the status of those is not clear.
