SULLIVAN – The end of the legal battle over the City of Sullivan’s controversial sewer-tap fee was heard Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 in the Missouri Supreme Court. The state’s highest court will determine if a state appellate court got it right when (that court) ruled against the city’s $3,750 - $4,250 tap fee. The Missouri Court of Appeals Southern District on March 31 reversed a Crawford County judgment that allowed the City of Sullivan to charge some residents up to $4,250 for a sewer connection fee while charging others as little as $60. Sullivan Garden Club seeks Blue Star Memorial PDF Print E-mail

SULLIVAN – In an effort to honor past and present servicemen and women, the Garden Club hopes to bring a Blue Star Memorial to Sullivan. Blue Star Memorials can be seen along several highways in the United States. If Sullivan’s Garden Club secures a memorial, it would be placed near the flagpole at the corner of Park Street and Springfield Road. “It has to be on a historical highway, and that way it would be on Route 66,” Garden Club member Norma Wilson said....

Council gets OK on major road projects PDF Print E-mail

SULLIVAN – After months of waiting, the city finally has the go-ahead to move forward with two major projects: The roundabout in front of City Hall and Springfield Road improvements. When they will happen is still a question. Although the city recently received long-awaited concurrence on the projects from the Missouri Department of Transportation, start dates have yet to be set. The City Council discussed possible beginning times for the projects at its special meeting.....

SULLIVAN – Three children were taken into custody and four people, including two from Sullivan, were arrested and charged with possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a meth lab in a mobile home trailer on the South Service Road over Labor Day weekend......

School Board: Daniel Schatz's jersey will go to his family PDF Print E-mail

SULLIVAN -- The Sullivan School District Board of Education has announced plans to honor the memory of former student and football star Daniel Schatz, who was killed in a car accident Aug. 5, by donating his football jersey to his family. At a date that has not yet been determined, the Sullivan High School and head football coach Pat Burke will hold a ceremony to raise a banner commemorating the accomplishments of Schatz's 2008 football team. During that ceremony, Schatz's family will be presented with their son's black football jersey. Schatz's white jersey will be displayed on campus at a location that will be decided by Burke and other school administrators. Schatz's #22 jersey will not be worn by any football player during the 2010 season, but.....
