UPDATE - A Texas man who was shot and killed by law enforcement from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol was wanted by the Secret Service for identity theft and drugs, reported the St. Louis Post-Dispatch today. Patrick Greer, 29, of Fort Worth, Texas, was shot by deputies and one trooper after a chase that began in Cuba Tuesday morning ended on I-44 near Rosati. According to authorities, Greer was wanted on warrants and police tried to pick him up in Cuba. Greer fled in a pickup, dragging a Cuba officer for a short time, and then fled westbound on I-44 about 12 miles and stopped in the median after police succesfully placed a spike strip in his path, flattening his tires. Upon exiting his pickup, authorities say that Greer pointed a pistol at himself and then started firing shots at police - but didn't hit anyone. At that point, deputies and a state trooper returned fire. Greer was taken to Phelps County Regional Medical Center, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds. The Secret Service told the Post-Dispatch that they were workiing with Greer's wife, attempting to locate Greer because he was considered armed.... |

SULLIVAN – A man whose last know residence is Sullivan has been charged with starting a fire while attempting to make methamphetamine. Edward Stidan, 44, was charged Tuesday with felonies for first-degree arson and attempting to produce a controlled substance, according to Crawford County court records. Lt. Dave Roche with the Sullivan Police Department, who helped apprehend Stidan Tuesday afternoon in Sullivan after the suspect’s vehicle crashed during a pursuit, said the man is homeless..... |
